What a honeypot check is

A honeypot lets a buy succeed and a sell fail. Simulation is evidence about that path, not a guarantee of the next block.

A honeypot is a token you can buy and cannot sell, or can sell only with a tax that takes the trade. The check simulates a buy and a sell where a public simulator exists.

On Ethereum-style chains the stored scan may cite honeypot.is, GoPlus, or a read-only eth_call. A pass means that simulation returned. It does not mean the contract cannot change if it is upgradeable.

Solana does not use that same simulator. There the relevant checks are mint authority, freeze authority, Token-2022 extensions, and whether a Jupiter sell route exists.

If the check is missing, do not fill the gap with optimism. Missing is the result.
