UK memecoin tax, in plain terms
HMRC treats most crypto disposals as capital gains. This is a map of the questions, not tax advice.
This is not tax advice. HMRC's cryptoasset manual is the primary source. Rules change, and your records matter more than a website summary.
Selling a token for sterling, swapping it for another token, or spending it is usually a disposal. A disposal can create a gain or a loss even when you never touched a bank.
Same-day purchases and the 30-day rule can match tokens you buy back. What is left usually sits in a Section 104 pool. The average cost of that pool is what you set against a later sale.
Keep the mint address, the time in UTC, the amount, the sterling value, and the fee. A symbol such as PEPE is not an identity. Two contracts can share it.
